It's important to meet my students where they are. Some may need remediation while others need a challenge. I use classroom data to determine what each child needs and provide activities that meet the needs of my students. This often includes hands-on projects, choice boards, and flexible leveled groupings. It also includes level readers and assignments so instruction can be flexible and varied based on student need.
Using whisper phones allows students to read different stories or passages simultaneously without disruption.
Writing workshop allows students to write as much as they can at their own pace while I focus on editing with individuals or small groups.
